April 26, 2012, 6:30 pm - (1 year ago) In a recent USTA match, I encountered a situation where it was discovered immediately after the match that the singles players on the other team played the wrong courts.
The other captain had no printed lineup so, after he gave me his list of players, I wrote down the court assignments and made a copy for him. I then announced to all the players gathered from both teams what the court assignments were by saying "First Singles, Court 2. Second Singles, Court 3. First Doubles, Court 4" etc.
I found out after the match, when my players were reporting scores to me, that the singles players on the other team had swapped courts - the player listed as first singles on their lineup actually played doubles and vice versa. I don't know whether this was intentional on the part of the captain or players or if it was some sort of accident or miscommunication. What is clear is that the lineup, which both the other captain and I had in hand before sending players out, has the players and their respective courts clearly listed.
