September 18, 2011, 2:00 pm - (1 year ago) Hi Everyone:
I am a former 4.5 middle-aged man now playing at 4.0 due to chronic knee problems which will only get worse over time. Due to my physical limitations, I am not always able to set up the way I want and my footwork is not as good as it used to be. My game: I am a lefty with a one-handed backhand. Although I would describe myself as an all-courter, I used to be extremely consistent and could patiently wait for a short ball to crush or approach on and was able to play very strong defensive. I like to move the ball around the court as well and have nice touch. I like to hit angles and lines. I can hit topspin but more of a flat ball hitter and will hit a relatively flat backhand or top and slice as well sometimes on approaches or for d. I have a nice first-serve with placement and pop and a classic mean lefty slice as a second serve. I hit a few aces per match.
I play both singles and doubles but will be playing more doubles due to my physical limitations. I can and do S&V in doubles sometimes and have touch on volleys.
I am coming from a customized Youtek Radical MP, a little heavier and more headlight than stock but am looking for a little help and willing to go lighter, even closer to stock since I do not have the footwork I used to, can not hit out as much in front as used, do not want to play as long points as before and looking for a little help on defense as well.
I tried the pure storm gt as an alternative and it was strung with a hybrid at higher tension. With my rads I use VS nat gut strung 2 lbs below mid tension.
I liked the psgt but on serve there seemed to be substantially less pace on flat serves and less spin on slices than my rads. Also did not seem to get the same angles on returns although it was very stable at stock weight.
Is this attributable to the string setups.
With the same string setups what should the difference be in how the frames play.
